Bilingual...

Gabriele

When I've come to the decision to open up my own blog a few weeks ago, I did this for mainly one reason:
I've worked for international companies for several years and I am interested in all cultures around the world. In my opinion, you can also see cultural differences in scrapbooking styles.

Therefore, it was clear right from the beginning, that I want to connect loads of cultures with my blog (I admit that this sounds kind of overblown...). And that means... bilingual blogging.

Up to now I have not found the one and only final form to show German and English posts in an optimal way. You can see lots of examples in the net, where the English text is written below the German one. I fear a bit, that English readers do not want to scroll that much and therefore decided not to blog in this way.

One advice you can read in the web is, to have 2 blogs: finally, you do not want to have a word-by-word translation of the texts and you have to keep in mind that you sometimes need further explanations in the foreign language (one example is "DSDS", which is a German show similar to "American Idol"... All Germans will definitely now what I mean, if I say DSDS. But I have to give a further explanation to the English readers...) First I thought about having two blogs, as it is probably easier for the readers to have the text in "their" language in one blog. But I decided against this solution, namely out of one single reason: I want to connect culture/ people here. Having 2 blogs would mean to seperate them automatically.

At the moment I am trying out these 2-columns-posts. I hope that this is an acceptable solution for you, but I am also fiddling about improvement. I appreciate any remarks, advise, critique... feedback, negative, but also positive ;-)

Oh, one more important issue: pls apologize any mistake... I'll improve... I promise!!

Wishing everybody a great Wednesday,
Gabriele

Hi Gabriele,

Genial...
Das merk ich mir ;-).

Ganz liebe Grüße
Banu
