Meine Lieblingsfarben / My favourite colors

Meine Kreativität ist ganz schön eingerostet. Mir hilft es, wenn ich mich nach Challenges umsehe, weil ich dort immer viele Ideen finde. Deshalb ist diese Karte für die Challenge "Neuester Stempel" (Kleeblatt) bei Stempelträume. An dieser Karte habe ich fast 5 Tage gearbeitet, einfach, weil ich keine Ideen hatte. Nun ist letztendlich das entstanden und ich mag die Karte jetzt auch:

My creativity has suffered in the past months. It helps looking for challenges, as I find loads of inspiration there. That's why this card is for the Stempelträume-Challenge "Newest Stamp" This card took me 5 days, simply due to the fact that I had no ideas. Grün, Türkis und Hellblau: meine Lieblingsfarben! Der Ostereier-Hintergrund ist mit Aquarellfarben coloriert (Aquarellstifte Albrecht Dürer von Faber-Castell und Farben von Schmincke) und ich habe ihn mit Stickles umrandet. Diese Karte soll auch eine Geburtstagskarte sein, deshalb habe ich die 4 Kleeblätter unten dazugefügt. Gestempelt, embossed und mit Aquarellfarben coloriert. Und weil irgendetwas fehlte, habe ich zum Schluß einen kleinen Osterhasen aus einem Motivpapier ausgeschnitten. Ist zwar weder grün, türkis noch hellblau - passt aber zum Thema :)

Green, turquoise and light-blue: mein favourite colours! I coloured the easter-eggs-background with watercolours (pencils Albrecht Dürer by Faber-Castell and colours by Schmincke) and added some stickles. This card is supposed to be also a birthday-card, that's why I added the 4 shamrocks at the bottom of the card. Stamped, heat-embossed and coloured with watercolours. Something was missing on this card - in my opinion - so I added a tiny easter-rabitt cut from easter-crafting-paper. It's neither green, turquoise nor light-blue - but matches the topic :)

Yorkshire + Teebeutelkarte/ teabag card

In den 80ern wurde ich von meiner Schule auf einen Schüleraustausch nach Yorkshire geschickt. Das erste Mal, dass ich so weit weg von zu Hause war. Es war eine tolle Zeit: ich wohnte bei einer Gastfamilie in Scarborough (Falls hier ganz zufällig eine Margaret aus Scarborough mitliest: bitte melde dich :) ) - bei dem Ort muss ich immer an Simon and Garfunkels "Goin' to Scarborough Fair" denken. Ich liebe Simon&Garfunkel und hatte schon zu der Zeit so einige Platten von ihnen. Während der Osterferien haben wir Urlaub im Lake District gemacht. Der Lake District ist ein Nationalpark in England, der aus einer wunderschönen Berg- und Seenlandschaft besteht. Ich wünsche mir jedenfalls wirklich sehr, dass ich irgendwann einmal wieder nach Yorkshire und zum Lake District fahren kann: so eine schöne Landschaft! Mein Mann ist eher abgeschreckt, weil er bei "England" immer an Regen und schlechtes Wetter denkt. Aber ich krieg ihn schon noch rum ;) Ende letzten Jahres hatten wir einen immensen Wasserschaden im Keller. Dadurch wurde mein Fotoalbum mit den Yorkshire/ Lake District Fotos total zerstört. In den 80ern gab es noch keine Digitalkameras, also waren wirklich fast alle Erinnerungen an diese tolle Zeit verschwunden. Nun habe ich ja - wie berichtet - Postcrossing entdeckt und dort gibt es eine riesige Community. Ich habe also im englischen Unterforum darüber berichtet, wie sehr ich mich über Postkarten aus Yorkshire freuen würde und bekam auch schnell eine Antwort: so kam es zu einem Swap mit Ellen, die mir diese 4 super schönen Rezeptkarten geschickt hat:

Back in the 80s, my school sent me to an exchange programme to Yorkshire . First time being so far away from home. I had such a great time: I lived with my guest family in Scarborough (should there be somebody called Margaret from Scarborough reading this: please e-mail me :) ) - reading this city's name I always have to think of Simon and Garfunkels "Goin' to Scarborough Fair". I love Simon&Garfunkel and had lots of their records at that time. We spent some holidays during the Easter time in the Lake District. The Lake District is a national park in England with a wonderful landscape which is famous for it's mountains and lakes. I wish, I'd be able to visit Yorkshire and the Lake District again: it is so beautiful! My husband's, however, rather put off by that idea, as he thinks of rain and bad weather whenever I talk about England. But I'll make him change his mind ;) We had a horrible water damage in our cellar at the end of the year. This destroyed my album with my Yorkshire/ Lake District photos. As there were no digital cameras back in the 80s, nearly all of my memorabilia disappeared. Now that I've found Postcrossing - as reported here - I posted my wish in their English sub-forum: to receive postcards from Yorkshire and I described how much they would mean to me. Soon I received a reply from Ellen, who sent me these 4 wonderful recipe cards:

Teebeutelkarte / Teabag card

Natürlich hat Ellen von mir auch Postkarten bekommen - es handelte sich ja um einen Tausch. Und damit sie weiß, wieviel diese Karten mir bedeuten, habe ich ihr eine kleine Teebeutelkarte als Dankeschön gemacht (bei Postcrossing kann man auch Teebeutel tauschen und Ellen nimmt regelmäßig teil) Bitte entschuldigt die Qualität der Bilder: die Kamera habe ich erst zu Weihnachten bekommen und ich komme nicht wirklich gut mit ihr klar.

And I made a small teabag card in order to show her, how much those cards mean to me (you can also swap teabags on Postcrossing and Ellen collects them, as far as I know) Pls apologize the bad quality of the photos: I received the camera during the Christmas holidays and cannot really handle it properly.

Ellen mag Schmetterlinge und Pink, deshalb wollte ich die Karte auch entsprechend gestalten. Den Hintergrundstempel habe ich mit klarem Embossingpulver embossed und die Blumen mit Schmincke Aquarellfarben coloriert, dazu ein wenig Glitzer hier und da. Unten ist ein Masking tape, das ich hier mal in einem Schnäppchenmarkt gefunden habe. Hier das Innere der Karte - ohne die Teebeutel:

Ellen likes butterflies and pink, so I wanted to design the card correspondingly. I embossed the background stamp with clear embossing powder and coloured the flowers with Schmincke watercolours; added a bit glitter here and there. You can see a masking tape at the bottom. Now the inside of the card - without teabags:

Edit: Blogger has new features. I think this is the reason, why the text below the postcard images does not show the right format. Up to now, I do not know how to fix this, but I am working on a solution!

Erst das eine, dann das andere :) Den Samstag morgen nutze ich eigentlich immer (wenn ich nicht babysitte :) ) dazu, im Netz rumzusurfen. Und was entdecke ich heute? Das neue Blog der ScrapArtZine. Die Zeitschrift kenne ich natürlich und habe einige Ausgaben hier vor mir liegen. Anlässlich dieses Blogs gibt es nun ein Gewinnspiel, auf das ich euch hiermit aufmerksam machen möchte. Ok, first the one thing, than the other one! I am usually surfing through the internet on Saturday mornings (when I am not babysitting :) ). Today I found the new blog from ScrapArtZine , a German Scrapbooking Magazine. I know this magazine - of course - and have several editions here in front of me. On the occasion of that new blog, there is a competition I'd like to draw your attention to. If you want to participate, you have to be quick, however: the competition will close on the 29th of January!

Ich weiß, ihr habt längere Zeit nichts von mir gelesen: ich hatte keine funktionierende Digi-Cam (meine Scan-Ergebnisse waren grauenhaft!) dafür hatte ich aber einen ziemlich hartnäckigen Trojaner auf dem PC *grrr* Irgendwie rennt die Zeit... und nun ist es schon wieder 2012, dabei habe ich nicht mal richtig 2011 mitbekommen! Es gibt auch Neuigkeiten in der Familie: wir werden wieder Großeltern! Unsere kleine Enkeltochter bleibt kein Einzelkind - im Gegenteil: sie bekommt sogar 2 Geschwister! Zwillinge - was für eine Neuigkeit! Wir freuen uns riesig über den Nachwuchs, der im Sommer erwartet wird :) Und... wir werden umziehen: wir sind auf der Suche nach einer neuen Wohnung und haben bereits angefangen, dieses und jenes einzupacken. Da dieser Umzug mehr oder weniger "nebenbei" laufen muss, wird das nochmal ein Kraftakt in den nächsten Monaten. Aber dafür habe ich mir vorgenommen, mir ein wenig mehr Freiraum für mich zu schaffen. Schade, dass ich euch meine Weihnachts-Basteleien nicht zeigen konnte, denn 2011 war ich wirklich fleissig. Naja, dafür geht es bald weiter, ich bin nämlich zur Zeit dabei, eine Karte zu machen. Und für die neue Wohnung habe ich schon mega viele Ideen :)

you haven't read anything about me in the last months: I had no proper camera (and my scan results were really, really ugly :) ), but instead of that a really persistent virus on the computer. Time flies: now it's 2012 and I don't even know, where 2011 went. And there are family-news: we will become grandparents again! Our little gran-daughter won't be our daughter's only child - no, not at all, as she is going to have 2 siblings! Twins - what news is that?! We are looking forward to the babies, who are expected to come in summer :) And... we will move: we are looking for a bigger home and have already begun to pack this and that. This movement has to take place "along the way", so the upcoming months will be a show of strength, I fear. But I decided to take a bit more time for me. I really regret that I was not able to show you my Christmas crafts, as I really made a lot in 2011. But I can show you new things in the next days: I am working on a card atm and have plenty of ideas for our new home :)

Postcrossing

Einen wunderschönen Sonntag-Morgen wünsche ich euch! Bevor ich ein Update gebe, was die letzten Monate so los war und was die nächsten Monate so kommen wird, möchte ich Euch ein neues Hobby von mir vorstellen:

Es handelt sich nicht um eine Brieffreundschaft, in der man mit bestimmten Leuten immer wieder schreibt, sondern man bekommt Postkarten aus der ganzen Welt und verschickt in die ganze Welt. Dabei kann man Interessengebiete angeben (meine sind die jeweiligen Städte/ Landschaften/ Kulturen und natürlich das Meer, Wasser, Schiffe usw. Ich finde dieses Projekt so interessant! Ich bin erst seit Donnerstag dort angemeldet: man kann selbst entscheiden, wie oft man mit macht und ich habe für den Anfang 3 Adressen gezogen: das heißt, ich muss 3 Karten verschicken. Meine Empfänger wohnen in den Niederlanden und in Russland. Wenn sie die Karten erhalten, registrieren sie sie auf der Postcrossing-Seite und dann erhalten andere User meine Adresse, um mir Karten zu schicken. Vielleicht ist das auch für den ein oder anderen von euch interessant? Ich hatte erst Bedenken, weil man ja schließlich seine Real-Adresse angibt (die auf der Seite nicht veröffentlicht wird!). Ich habe allerdings vorher 2 Tage lang nach Erfahrungsberichten gegoogelt und nichts Negatives gefunden. Natürlich kann es passieren, dass irgendjemand keine Karte schickt. Aber ich glaube, das kommt nicht so oft vor. Naja, jetzt warte ich gerade, wann meine Karten wohl ankommen und ob sie gefallen.

The project does not deal with the usual "penpals": you do not exchange mail with the same people again and again, but you receive postcards from all around the world and you send postcards to the whole world. You can establish a wishlist of topics you`d like to receive (or collect) (mine are the single cities/ landscapes/ culture and of course the ocean, water, ships etc) This sounds sooo interesting to me! I registered on Thursday only: you can decide on your own on the quantity of postcards, so I chose to get 3 addresses, which means, I have to send 3 cards. My recipients live in the Netherlands and in Russia. As soon as they receive the card, the register it on the Postcrossing website. Afterwards my address goes to 3 different users and I am supposed to get postcards. I thought there could be readers here who would like to participate. First I had concerns to give my real life address (which will not be published on the website there). I googled, however, for experiences with Postcrossing and haven`t found anything negative about it. There is - of course - the possibility that someone does not send a card, who is supposed to send one. As far as I read, this does not happen very often. And now? Now I am waiting for my cards to arrive and I hope they meet the taste of "my" recipients!

Geburtstagseinladung / Birthday Invitation

Envelope-Cards Part I

Meine Schwester wird im November 60 und sie bat mich, für diesen Anlass die Einladungen für sie zu machen. Der Bitte komme ich natürlich sehr gerne nach! Ich bin also im Moment dabei, verschiedene Muster zu basteln, damit sie sich dann eine passende Karte aussuchen kann. Da es ihr wichtig ist, dass sie einige Zeilen oder sogar ein Blatt Papier hinzufügen kann, habe ich mich für Envelope-Cards entschieden. Heute zeige ich Euch das erste Muster: Ihre Lieblingsfarbe ist dunkelrot; leider hat sie so überhaupt keine Vorstellungen geäußert, so dass ich schon freie Hand habe, aber auch wieder mal die Qual der Wahl.

My sister turns 60 in November and asked me to make the invitations for this event. And I am - of course - happy about this! At the moment I am making several samples so that she can chose her favourite. As she wants to add manually a few lines or even a sheet of paper, I decided to make some envelope cards. Today I`ll show you my first sample: her favourite color is dark-red; she did not mention any other wishes, so that I can design it as I want it to, but am on the other hand spoilt for choice.

Blumen-Stempel / flower stamp: Viva decor

Diese Karte kann sie heraus nehmen und die Rückseite beschriften, wie sie möchte. Und die Gäste können nur diese Karte mit den Details heraus nehmen und aufbewahren.

She is able to take this inner card out and write on the back side of it. And the guests are able to store just this inner card in order to have the party`s details.

Meine neue Lieblingstechnik / My new favourite technique

Viele von Euch kennen sie wahrscheinlich schon lange, für mich war es Neuland und ich fand das Ergebnis so Klasse! Wenn man die Karte aufklappt, sind auf dem linken und rechten "Flügel" dunkelrote Papierstreifen. Die habe ich jeweils mit einem Schriftenstempel (Flohmarkt-Fund) und rotem Stempelkissen bestempelt und dann klar embossed. Ich traue mich nicht so recht an Versamark heran, weil die Stempel dann schnell beschädigt werden können (vielleicht liege ich auch falsch). Mit dieser Technik habe ich auch eine Art Wasserzeichen, wenn auch embossed. Das Ergebnis finde ich wirklich super. Die gleiche Technik habe ich als Hintergrund des Tags und den Photoecken auf der inneren Karte benutzt.

Loads of you will know this technique already, but for me... it was new territory and I really like the result. When opening the card, you can see dark-red paper stripes on the left and the right "flap". I stamped them with a handwriting stamp (fleamarket find) and red color before embossing them with clear embossing powder. I do not really dare to use Versamark as I often read that it could damage the stamp (maybe I am wrong with that). This technique, however, also gives the possibility to have a kind of watermark - although embossed. I used the same technique for the tag`s background on the inner card and for the photo edges there.

Knallige Farben / Bright colours

Also oft nutze ich knallige Farben nicht. Deshalb war die 2. Challenge von Inkspire_me eine echte Challenge für mich. Und nun bin ich mir nicht mal sicher, ob ich die Farben überhaupt richtig getroffen habe. Aber... das könnt ihr besser beurteilen. Hier also meine Karte:

ok, I do not often use bright colours on my cards. Hence, the 2nd Inkspire_me Challenge was literally that: a challenge for me. And finally I am not even sure whether I used the correct colours for this challenge. I think, however, that you`re able to judge that better than me. Ok, here it comes, my card:

Eigentlich war sie ja schon am Sonntag fertig. Eigentlich bedeutet: ich war überhaupt nicht zufrieden. Die Bestandteile gefallen mir schon, auch wenn mein Sohn den Streifen mit den Bäumen nicht mag. Aber ich habe bis heute hin und her geschoben und keine richtige Anordnung für den Tag gefunden. *seufz* Irgendwann muss man aber mal aufhören; und das mache ich jetzt.

I actually finalized this card on Sunday. Actually means: I was not satisfied at all. I liked the single parts, even though my son doesn`t like the stripe with the trees at all. But up to today I moved everything from here to there and did not find a proper solution for the tag. *sigh* But... you have to stop at one point; and I`ll do that right now.

Die blauen Bäume und die Striche hinter dem Vogelhaus sind wieder mit Glitter... Die Pailletten habe ich in letzter Minute aufgenäht, weil sonst etwas gefehlt hätte. Der Tag greift auch die Bäume auf dem Papierstreifen auf: ich habe 2 ausgeschnitten und mit auf den Tag gesetzt. Schon ein bissi besser als die letzte Karte (finde ich) und ich merke, dass ich wieder etwas kreativer werde und nicht so lange vor meinem Bastel-Berg sitze wie vorher, nur um Löcher in die Luft zu starren.

The blue trees and the lines on the birdhouse-tag are again made with glitter. I sew the pailletes onto the card in the last minute, because otherwise there would have been too much empty space on the card. The tag also repeats the trees from the paperstrip: I cut out 2 of them and adhered them to the tag. It´s a bit better than my last card (in my opinion) and I realize, that I`m getting more creative. I don`t spend hours sitting in front of my stash just staring into space.

In-{K}Spire_me: neuer/ new Challenge Blog

Vor Kurzem wurde ein neuer Challenge-Blog aufgemacht: IN-{K}-SPIRE_me. Und da ich ja immer auf der Suche nach schönen Challenges bin, habe auch ich versucht, an der 1. Challenge teilzunehmen. Ergebnis: Versuch gescheitert. Ich war nämlich zu lahm. Seit meiner längeren Pause brauche ich echt lang, eine Karte fertig zu bekommen. Die Farbkombi für diese Karte war vorgegeben: (da ich nicht sicher bin, ob ich das Bild selbst veröffentlichen darf, hier der Link dazu) Das Grün gehört zu meiner künstlerischen Freiheit :) Ich hoffe, dass ich ansonsten die Kombi auch wohl getroffen habe. Den Digistamp habe ich mit Aquarell-Stiften coloriert und dann die einzelnen Teile mit Pappe hinterlegt, damit ein 3D-Effekt entsteht. Die Abstandspads sind mir teilweise zu groß oder aber auch zu dick dafür. Mit ein wenig Pappe erzielt man auch einen schönen Effekt. Die Scallops unten habe ich mit einem Glitzer-Stift umrandet. Leider sieht man das auf dem Foto nicht so gut. Und den Schmetterling habe ich auch noch ein wenig "beglittert". Diese Karte kommt in meinen Vorrat. Immer, wenn ich kurzfristig eine Karte brauche, habe ich natürlich keine... und da ich ja momentan eher zur Schnecken-Fraktion zähle, mache ich mir halt einen Vorrat :) So, muss mich mal mit der nächsten Challenge auf Inkspire_me befassen, sonst wird das auch wieder nichts. There is a new Challenge Blog out there in Blogger`s world: IN-{K}-SPIRE_me. And as I am always looking out for good challenge-blogs, I tried to take part into the first of their challenges. Result: Failed! I was... too lame! Now, after my long break, I really need loooads of time to finish a card. There was a colour combo fixed for this challenge: As I am not sure whether it is allowed to publish the correspondent photo, I`ll give you the link for that combo here. The green is part of my artistic license :) I hope that the rest fits the given colours. I coloured the digistamp with watercolours and adhered tiny pieces of cardboard on the backside in order to get something like an 3D-effect. The regular foampads sometimes are too thick, respectively too big and you can achieve nearly the same effect with a bit of cardboard. I bordered the scallops at the bottom with a glitter-pen. Unfortunately you cannot see that glitter on the photo. And.. I also glittered the butterfly a bit. The card was made for my stash. Anytime I need a card - I don`t have a finished one. And as I presently belong to the snail-crafters... I am making a stash :) Ok, I`ll have to study the next Inkspire_me Challenge now, otherwise I`ll fail again :) Wishing all of you a great weekend, Hugs Gabriele
