Tea or Coffee? --> Tea today

Ich bin die totale Kaffee-Tante: ohne Kaffee am Morgen ist der Tag direkt wieder vorbei. Tee trinke ich überwiegend im Winter - abends, wenn es draußen eisig kalt ist. In den 80ern galt es eine Zeit lang als echt cool, eine Teestunde zu haben: jeder hatte sein Tee-Set; mit Bechern und nicht mit Tassen! Und dann musste man natürlich alle möglichen Teedosen haben. Hatte ich auch. Trotzdem bin ich bei Kaffee gelandet. Meine Freundin ist bei Tee geblieben. Auch kein Problem, ich trinke ja auch manchmal Tee. Und weil wir uns so lange nicht mehr gesehen haben, habe ich ihr diese Einladung gebastelt:

I am totally coffee-addicted: if I don't get my cup of coffee in the morning, the day is instantly at it's end. I usually drink tea in winter only - in the evenings, when it's cold outside. Back in the 80s it was cool to have a tea-hour: everybody had a tea-set; with small beakers, not with cups! And you had to have all sorts of tea-boxes. So did I. I nonetheless landed with coffee, not with tea. One of my friends stayed with tea. No problem at all, sometimes I can drink tea, you know? And as we did not see each others for a really long time, I made her this invitation:

Embossing Resist

Auf dieser Karte habe ich eine neue Technik ausprobiert. Dutzende von euch kennen sie mit Sicherheit schon. Ich kannte sie vorher auch, habe sie aber noch nie angewandt. Den blauen Papierstreifen habe ich mit Embossing Resist gemacht: erst das Motiv in weiß auf weißem CS gestempelt, dann mit klarem Embossingpulver embossed und zum Schluß mit Distress Ink über den Streifen gewischt, so dass nur das Papier eingefärbt wurde. Das embosste Motiv bleibt weiß. Falls es doch noch jemanden gibt, der die Technik nicht kennt (ich bin in solchen Dingen einfach nicht die schnellste ;) ): Hierbei Splitcoaststampers gibt es ein ausführliches Tutorial mit einem Galerie-Link für viele, viele schöne Beispiele. Es ist Quasselzeit: passt zu 150%: wir können teilweise 2 Stunden telefonieren und uns trotzdem hinterher noch stundenlang bei einer Tasse Tee ausquatschen. Und nach so langer Zeit haben wir uns eine Menge zu erzählen.

I tried a new technique on this card. Most of you will know this, of course. I also knew it, but haven't used it up to now. The blue paperstripe has been made with embossing resist: first I stamped onto white CS, embossed with clear embossing powder and finally added distress ink to the paperstripe, so that only the paper is being coloured, not the embossed part. If you should not know this technique (I am really slow in such things ;) ): hereis a detailed tutorial on the Splitcoaststampers' website with a link to a galery with loads of really beautiful sample-cards. "It's time to chat": that's true to 150%: we can talk on the phone for 2 hours, and nonetheless chat for hours drinking a cup of tea.

Daily Challenges: Crafty Ribbons

Ohje, irgendwie komme ich mit Blogger nicht so richtig klar oder werde blind: dieser Post sollte schon längst veröffentlicht sein, ist aber irgendwie stecken geblieben. Deshalb heute: Bei Inspirations Blog von Crafty Ribbonslaufen bis zum 03.06. tägliche Events: zum Einen kann man täglich einen Preis gewinnen, zum Anderen gibt es aber tonnenweise Inspiration vom DT: viele unterschiedliche Karten und Techniken, die man sich ansehen kann. Ab und an findet man auch ein Tutorial dabei. Die Preise werden von verschiedenen britischen Shop-Anbietern gesponsort. Heute ist Tag 10, man kann sich aber auch rückwirkend eintragen. Vielleicht hilft mein verspäteter Blog-Post also doch noch ;) Und: Crafty Ribbons hat auch ein Blog, auf dem neben Tutorials auch Challenges angeboten werden.

Scrap Organisation

Ich bin ein totaler Papier-Liebhaber: Wenn ich schönes Scrapbooking Papier gefunden habe, mag ich es fast nicht verwenden, weil es ja so schön ist und bald weg sein könnte. (warum das falsch ist, könnt ihr übrigens ganz unten lesen. Meine persönliche Papier-Katastrophe!) Deshalb bewahre ich auch jeden Fitzel Papier auf. Für meine größeren Papiere habe ich einen Karton, in dem das Papier praktisch hochkant steht. Für die kleineren Papier-Reste habe ich eine Fächer-Mappe und sortiere dort das Papier nach Farben ein. Und für meine klitzekleinen Papier-Schnipsel hatte ich bis gestern kleine Schachteln. Ich glaube, ich habe inzwischen mehr Schachteln als sonst was. Außerdem wühlt man ständig in diesen Schnipseln herum und findet dann doch nicht das, was man sucht. Für viele LOs oder Karten kann man super gut die Scraps benutzen, teilweise braucht man auch nur ein kleines Stück für einen bestimmten Stempel. Da sah ich neulich diesen Link bei Mel und fand die Idee total Klasse! Also direkt mal umgesetzt:

I'm a huge paper-lover: after finding beautiful scrapbooking paper, I do not want to use it, because it's so beautiful and would be away after using it. (the reason for not doing that in future again can be read at the bottom of this post: my personal paper-catastrophe!) That's why I keep every single scrap of paper. I have a carton for my bigger papers, holding the papers upright. And I have a portable/ expandable paper file for my not-so-small paper scraps.I store my papers colorwise there. Up to yesterday, I used to keep my tiny scraps in small boxes. I think, I've got more boxes than anything else. You always dig in the boxes in order to find suitable paper, but you cannot find what you need. Scraps can be used for tons of projects and sometimes you just need a small piece of paper for a stamp. Hence, when I saw this link on Mel's blog, I was totally thrilled. Had to try that out immediately:

Von dem Transparentpapier habe ich tonnenweise hier herumliegen: ich hatte es vor 3 Jahren für Vellum gehalten und habe mich noch über den Preis gewundert *gg* (heute weiß ich es) Es ist aber eher zum Laternenbasteln geeignet. Hierfür kann ich es super benutzen! Ich werde die Scraps noch nach Farben sortieren auf den jeweiligen Seiten. Hier sind sie ziemlich durcheinander, weil ich euch das zeigen wollte. Und ich habe verschiedene Kleb-Arten ausprobiert: die einzelnen Transparent-Papier-Streifen sind jeweils mit doppelseitigem Klebeband, Bastelkleber und Photoklebe-Roller geklebt: sowohl unten wie auch, um die einzelnen "Abschnitte" voneinander zu teilen Ich finde, das ist eine großartige Idee. Ich denke, man nutzt auch viel mehr Scraps, wenn man sie so auf einen Blick sieht und nicht ständig durch Boxen wühlen muss. Übrigens hat meine größte Katastrophe der letzten Wochen auch damit zu tun: ich habe meine 30x30 Bögen in einem Pizza-Karton aufbewahrt und einen großen Zettel mit der Aufschrift "SCRAPBOOKING PAPIER" auf den Deckel geklebt. In diesem Karton waren meine schönsten Papier-Bögen, die ich nicht verscrappen mochte, weil sie mir zu schade waren (ich könnte heulen....) Und dann... ist diese Beschriftung abgefallen.... und irgendjemand (ich weiß noch nicht wer, hier streitet es jeder ab und ich hoffe inständig, ich war es nicht selbst) dachte: schmeiß ich mal den Pizza-Karton weg. Typisch: ich glaube, sonst wirft hier niemand freiwillig einen Pizza-Karton weg. Nun sind alle meine super schönen PP im MÜLL! Und ich habe es nicht früh genug gemerkt, weil ich ja die letzten Monate nicht gescrappt habe. Das ist wirklich eine Katastrophe für mich!!! In Zukunft werde ich auch die schönen PPs verscrappen. Ich sehe sie lieber auf einem schönen Lo, einer schönen Karte, als im Müll. Papierlose Grüße, Gabriele

I have tons of this translucent paper lying around: 3 yrs ago, I thought it was vellum and wondered, why it was that cheap *gg* (now I know...) You can use it for crafting lanterns, but not like the vellum we know in cardmaking for example. But here it's of great usage! I will sort the scraps colorwise into the single pages. They are not in an order here, just wanted to show you an example. I tried different ways of adhering the translucent paper-stripes: doublesided sticky tape, adhesive and a photo-roller. They are used to adhere the stripes at the bottom, but also to separate the single "compartments", where the scraps go. I think, that's such a great idea! I am convinced that I'll be using more of my scraps in future, as I see them at one sight and don't have to dig into those boxes. Oh, do you want to know my biggest catastrophe of the last weeks: I keep my 12"x12" scrapbooking papers in a pizza carton and adhered a huge paper to it's lid, with a label: "SCRAPBOOKING PAPER". There were so many beautiful papers (as mentioned above: I did not want to scrap/craft them...). And then ... the labeling paper did not stick good enough to the carton... and somebody (I do not know yet, who, and I deeply hope that it wasn't me) thought, we had forgotten to throw that pizza carton away. That's so typical: never ever somebody here throws away a pizza carton without being forced to. Now all my super duper PPs are ... in the trash and I did not recognize that early enough (as I did not craft the past months). That's such a catastrophe for me!!!! In future, I WILL craft with my beautiful papers: it's much better to see them on a project, than in the trash! Paperless Greetings, Gabriele

Meine Lieblingsfarben / My favourite colors

Meine Kreativität ist ganz schön eingerostet. Mir hilft es, wenn ich mich nach Challenges umsehe, weil ich dort immer viele Ideen finde. Deshalb ist diese Karte für die Challenge "Neuester Stempel" (Kleeblatt) bei Stempelträume. An dieser Karte habe ich fast 5 Tage gearbeitet, einfach, weil ich keine Ideen hatte. Nun ist letztendlich das entstanden und ich mag die Karte jetzt auch:

My creativity has suffered in the past months. It helps looking for challenges, as I find loads of inspiration there. That's why this card is for the Stempelträume-Challenge "Newest Stamp" This card took me 5 days, simply due to the fact that I had no ideas. Finally I created this and in the meantime, I like this card:

Grün, Türkis und Hellblau: meine Lieblingsfarben! Der Ostereier-Hintergrund ist mit Aquarellfarben coloriert (Aquarellstifte Albrecht Dürer von Faber-Castell und Farben von Schmincke) und ich habe ihn mit Stickles umrandet. Diese Karte soll auch eine Geburtstagskarte sein, deshalb habe ich die 4 Kleeblätter unten dazugefügt. Gestempelt, embossed und mit Aquarellfarben coloriert. Und weil irgendetwas fehlte, habe ich zum Schluß einen kleinen Osterhasen aus einem Motivpapier ausgeschnitten. Ist zwar weder grün, türkis noch hellblau - passt aber zum Thema :)

Green, turquoise and light-blue: mein favourite colours! I coloured the easter-eggs-background with watercolours (pencils Albrecht Dürer by Faber-Castell and colours by Schmincke) and added some stickles. This card is supposed to be also a birthday-card, that's why I added the 4 shamrocks at the bottom of the card. Stamped, heat-embossed and coloured with watercolours. Something was missing on this card - in my opinion - so I added a tiny easter-rabitt cut from easter-crafting-paper. It's neither green, turquoise nor light-blue - but matches the topic :)

Envelope-Cards Part I

Meine Schwester wird im November 60 und sie bat mich, für diesen Anlass die Einladungen für sie zu machen. Der Bitte komme ich natürlich sehr gerne nach! Ich bin also im Moment dabei, verschiedene Muster zu basteln, damit sie sich dann eine passende Karte aussuchen kann. Da es ihr wichtig ist, dass sie einige Zeilen oder sogar ein Blatt Papier hinzufügen kann, habe ich mich für Envelope-Cards entschieden. Heute zeige ich Euch das erste Muster: Ihre Lieblingsfarbe ist dunkelrot; leider hat sie so überhaupt keine Vorstellungen geäußert, so dass ich schon freie Hand habe, aber auch wieder mal die Qual der Wahl.

My sister turns 60 in November and asked me to make the invitations for this event. And I am - of course - happy about this! At the moment I am making several samples so that she can chose her favourite. As she wants to add manually a few lines or even a sheet of paper, I decided to make some envelope cards. Today I`ll show you my first sample: her favourite color is dark-red; she did not mention any other wishes, so that I can design it as I want it to, but am on the other hand spoilt for choice.

Blumen-Stempel / flower stamp: Viva decor

Diese Karte kann sie heraus nehmen und die Rückseite beschriften, wie sie möchte. Und die Gäste können nur diese Karte mit den Details heraus nehmen und aufbewahren.

She is able to take this inner card out and write on the back side of it. And the guests are able to store just this inner card in order to have the party`s details.

Meine neue Lieblingstechnik / My new favourite technique

Viele von Euch kennen sie wahrscheinlich schon lange, für mich war es Neuland und ich fand das Ergebnis so Klasse! Wenn man die Karte aufklappt, sind auf dem linken und rechten "Flügel" dunkelrote Papierstreifen. Die habe ich jeweils mit einem Schriftenstempel (Flohmarkt-Fund) und rotem Stempelkissen bestempelt und dann klar embossed. Ich traue mich nicht so recht an Versamark heran, weil die Stempel dann schnell beschädigt werden können (vielleicht liege ich auch falsch). Mit dieser Technik habe ich auch eine Art Wasserzeichen, wenn auch embossed. Das Ergebnis finde ich wirklich super. Die gleiche Technik habe ich als Hintergrund des Tags und den Photoecken auf der inneren Karte benutzt.

Loads of you will know this technique already, but for me... it was new territory and I really like the result. When opening the card, you can see dark-red paper stripes on the left and the right "flap". I stamped them with a handwriting stamp (fleamarket find) and red color before embossing them with clear embossing powder. I do not really dare to use Versamark as I often read that it could damage the stamp (maybe I am wrong with that). This technique, however, also gives the possibility to have a kind of watermark - although embossed. I used the same technique for the tag`s background on the inner card and for the photo edges there.

Knallige Farben / Bright colours

Also oft nutze ich knallige Farben nicht. Deshalb war die 2. Challenge von Inkspire_me eine echte Challenge für mich. Und nun bin ich mir nicht mal sicher, ob ich die Farben überhaupt richtig getroffen habe. Aber... das könnt ihr besser beurteilen. Hier also meine Karte:

ok, I do not often use bright colours on my cards. Hence, the 2nd Inkspire_me Challenge was literally that: a challenge for me. And finally I am not even sure whether I used the correct colours for this challenge. I think, however, that you`re able to judge that better than me. Ok, here it comes, my card:

Eigentlich war sie ja schon am Sonntag fertig. Eigentlich bedeutet: ich war überhaupt nicht zufrieden. Die Bestandteile gefallen mir schon, auch wenn mein Sohn den Streifen mit den Bäumen nicht mag. Aber ich habe bis heute hin und her geschoben und keine richtige Anordnung für den Tag gefunden. *seufz* Irgendwann muss man aber mal aufhören; und das mache ich jetzt.

I actually finalized this card on Sunday. Actually means: I was not satisfied at all. I liked the single parts, even though my son doesn`t like the stripe with the trees at all. But up to today I moved everything from here to there and did not find a proper solution for the tag. *sigh* But... you have to stop at one point; and I`ll do that right now.

Die blauen Bäume und die Striche hinter dem Vogelhaus sind wieder mit Glitter... Die Pailletten habe ich in letzter Minute aufgenäht, weil sonst etwas gefehlt hätte. Der Tag greift auch die Bäume auf dem Papierstreifen auf: ich habe 2 ausgeschnitten und mit auf den Tag gesetzt. Schon ein bissi besser als die letzte Karte (finde ich) und ich merke, dass ich wieder etwas kreativer werde und nicht so lange vor meinem Bastel-Berg sitze wie vorher, nur um Löcher in die Luft zu starren.

The blue trees and the lines on the birdhouse-tag are again made with glitter. I sew the pailletes onto the card in the last minute, because otherwise there would have been too much empty space on the card. The tag also repeats the trees from the paperstrip: I cut out 2 of them and adhered them to the tag. It´s a bit better than my last card (in my opinion) and I realize, that I`m getting more creative. I don`t spend hours sitting in front of my stash just staring into space.

In-{K}Spire_me: neuer/ new Challenge Blog

Vor Kurzem wurde ein neuer Challenge-Blog aufgemacht: IN-{K}-SPIRE_me. Und da ich ja immer auf der Suche nach schönen Challenges bin, habe auch ich versucht, an der 1. Challenge teilzunehmen. Ergebnis: Versuch gescheitert. Ich war nämlich zu lahm. Seit meiner längeren Pause brauche ich echt lang, eine Karte fertig zu bekommen. Die Farbkombi für diese Karte war vorgegeben: (da ich nicht sicher bin, ob ich das Bild selbst veröffentlichen darf, hier der Link dazu) Das Grün gehört zu meiner künstlerischen Freiheit :) Ich hoffe, dass ich ansonsten die Kombi auch wohl getroffen habe. Den Digistamp habe ich mit Aquarell-Stiften coloriert und dann die einzelnen Teile mit Pappe hinterlegt, damit ein 3D-Effekt entsteht. Die Abstandspads sind mir teilweise zu groß oder aber auch zu dick dafür. Mit ein wenig Pappe erzielt man auch einen schönen Effekt. Die Scallops unten habe ich mit einem Glitzer-Stift umrandet. Leider sieht man das auf dem Foto nicht so gut. Und den Schmetterling habe ich auch noch ein wenig "beglittert". Diese Karte kommt in meinen Vorrat. Immer, wenn ich kurzfristig eine Karte brauche, habe ich natürlich keine... und da ich ja momentan eher zur Schnecken-Fraktion zähle, mache ich mir halt einen Vorrat :) So, muss mich mal mit der nächsten Challenge auf Inkspire_me befassen, sonst wird das auch wieder nichts. There is a new Challenge Blog out there in Blogger`s world: IN-{K}-SPIRE_me. And as I am always looking out for good challenge-blogs, I tried to take part into the first of their challenges. Result: Failed! I was... too lame! Now, after my long break, I really need loooads of time to finish a card. There was a colour combo fixed for this challenge: As I am not sure whether it is allowed to publish the correspondent photo, I`ll give you the link for that combo here. The green is part of my artistic license :) I hope that the rest fits the given colours. I coloured the digistamp with watercolours and adhered tiny pieces of cardboard on the backside in order to get something like an 3D-effect. The regular foampads sometimes are too thick, respectively too big and you can achieve nearly the same effect with a bit of cardboard. I bordered the scallops at the bottom with a glitter-pen. Unfortunately you cannot see that glitter on the photo. And.. I also glittered the butterfly a bit. The card was made for my stash. Anytime I need a card - I don`t have a finished one. And as I presently belong to the snail-crafters... I am making a stash :) Ok, I`ll have to study the next Inkspire_me Challenge now, otherwise I`ll fail again :) Wishing all of you a great weekend, Hugs Gabriele

Weihnachten hellgrün und pink / Christmas in light green and pink

Gestern konnte ich auf die Schnelle noch eine Weihnachtskarte zusammen basteln. Normalerweise ist mein Weihnachts-Stil eher die klassische rot-grün-gold Farbmischung, aber dieses Grün mit Rot und Pink fand ich auch sehr schön! Leider ist das Foto etwas dunkel geworden. Ich hoffe, ihr könnt alles erkennen! Im Original handelt es sich um wirklich leuchtende Farben und ich bin jetzt am überlegen, zu wem sie wohl passen würde. So, hier scheint heute die Sonne. Das heißt: den Tag genießen. Und genau das werde ich heute tun. Ich hoffe, Ihr habt alle eine schöne Woche! Liebe Grüße Gabriele

I had some time to make a quick christmas card yesterday. My usual christmas style is this classic red-green-gold color-combo, but I also like this light green with red and pink! Unfortunately the photo is a bit dark. I hope you`ll see everything. IRL the colors are really light colors and at the moment I try to find out whom to send this kind of christmas card. The sun is shining today here. That means: enjoy the day. And that`s exactly what I`ll do today. I hope, you`ll all have a great week! Hugs, Gabriele

Maiglöckchen / Lilies of the valley

Heute zeige ich euch eine meiner Lieblingskarten (was sich nicht überheblich anhören soll...). Ich bin ja eigentlich dabei, viele Karten für meine Schwester zu machen, als Gegenleistung für die 10kg Bücher, die sie mir geschickt hat. Als ich jedoch diese Karte fertig hatte, hab ich mich entschieden, sie selbst zu behalten und irgendwann mal jemandem zum Geburtstag zu schicken.

Today I want to show you one of my favourite cards (which is not supposed to sound something like arrogant..). I am making loads of cards for my sister as a kind of "return service" for the 10kg of books she sent me a time ago. When finalizing this card, I decided, however, to keep it for me and to send it to someone as a birthday card.

Mal wieder ein bisschen Stickerei unten, weil mir sonst dieser Papier-Streifen zu nackig war und weil ich zur Zeit wirklich gerne sticke. Ansonsten: nix besonderes auf der Karte. Das Vellum habe ich auf hellblauen Karton geklebt und probiere gerade verschiedene Klebstoffe aus, mit denen man Transparentpapier gut kleben kann. Ich liebe es, diese Blumen zu machen... sie gehen schnell und sehen trotzdem sehr gut aus ;)

Again a bit of stitching at the bottom of the card, as I thought the paper would otherwise be kind of naked and as I like stitching atm. What else? - Nothing special. I adhered the vellum to light blue cardboard and try different glues on vellum at the moment. I love making these flowers (don`t remember their name...) you can make them really quickly and they look good, despite of being made in a few minutes. ;)

Ich liebe French knots! / I love french knots!

Seit Monaten versuche ich, French knots auf meine Karten zu bekommen (leider kenne ich hier den deutschen Ausdruck nicht... vielleicht französische Knoten????). Ich finde die Karten mit diesem Stick-Stich sooo toll... und habe mir so lange jetzt die Finger daran abgebrochen. Und das, obwohl ich mir sogar Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitungen angesehen habe. Es wollte einfach nicht klappen. Letztens also hab ich mir vorgenommen, diesen Stich so lange zu probieren, bis es endlich klappt und habe mich auf die Suche nach einem weiteren Tutorial begeben. Und... ich bin fündig geworden! Helen hat so ein tolles Tutorial geschrieben und fotografiert, dass selbst ich es auf Anhieb geschafft habe. (ok, auf Anhieb ist ein klitzeklein wenig übertrieben... mit auf Anhieb meine ich ca. 4,5 Monate *gg*)

I`ve been trying for months now to get these french knots onto my cards. I like those cards with them sooo much... and almost broke my fingers by trying it out. Even though studying step-by-step instructions. But it simply didn`t work. A few days ago I decided to try that stitch until really being able to do it. Hence, I looked out for another tutorial and.... tadaaaa I found one! Helen made such a wonderful tutorial, that even me managed to do it at once. (ok, at once is maybe the wrong word here, as I mean aprox. 4.5 months *gg* )

Ja, ich gebe zu, dass ihr auf dieser Karte nicht ganz so viele French knots sehen könnt. Eigentlich hatte ich auch mehr davon drauf, aber habe mich dann doch dazu entschieden, die untere Hälfte der Karte relativ frei zu lassen, damit man das Hintergrundpapier mit den Blumen besser erkennen kann. Deshalb werde ich demnächst eine weitere Karte mit dieser Kleider-Vorlage machen, auf der dann auch mehr von diesen Knoten drauf sind.

Yes, I admit that there are not tooo many of the french knots on this card. There were more of them on it originally, but finally I decided to leave most of the underpart free in order to show the background paper with the flowers on it. I will make another card with this dress template in a few days and make more of these knots.

Den Hintergrund mit den Kleidern oben habe ich versucht ein wenig aufzulockern, indem ich einige Kleider mit Aquarellfarben coloriert habe, und einie noch einmal auf rotem Karton ausgedruckt und auf die Vorlage geklebt habe. Ich hoffe, ihr mögt sie!

I tried to loosen the dress' background a bit by coloring a few dresses with my watercolors and by printing the background again onto red cardboard and adhering a few dresses onto the white print-out. Hope you like it!

Heute hatte ich meinen nostalgischen Tag und habe ein wenig in den Karten gestöbert, die ich bis jetzt so alle gemacht habe. Und dabei ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich diese Karte noch gar nicht gezeigt habe. Dabei finde ich sie eigentlich sehr schön und sie ist bei der Empfängerin auch gut angekommen. Deshalb hole ich hier meine Danke-Karte an Sunshine nach. Sunshine hatte mir seinerzeit dieses Advents Journal Jar gemacht. Und eine Aufgabe des Journal Jars lautete: "Mache eine Danke-Karte für deine WiMa". Eine tolle Idee und ich habe sie von Herzen gerne erfüllt :) Ich wünsche Euch allen einen wunderschönen Sonntag! I had a kind of nostalgic day today and therefore grubbed a bit through all cards I made up to now. Doing this I suddenly recognized that I haven`t shown this card on my blog up to now. I think, however, it`s a quite good one and (I think) the recipient of the card also liked it. Hence, I am doing that now... and show you the thank-you-card I made for Sunshine. Sunshine sent me this Advents Journal Jar in November and one of the tasks in the Jar was to make a thank-you card for your the sender of the journal jar. A great idea and I really loved to make it! Leider weiß ich nicht mehr, woher ich das Bild von der Uhr habe: ich hatte es hier in meinem Bilder-Ordner und habe wohl vergessen, mir die Herkunft zu notieren. Den Spruch finde ich absolut genial. Und je älter man wird, desto beruhigender ist er ;) Ich liebe das Papier von 7gypsies und auf dieser Karte habe ich es das erste Mal benutzt. Nun hoffe ich nur noch, dass sie meiner Schwester gefällt!

Unfortunately I forgot the source of the clock`s picture. I had it here in my stash of images and obviously did not note down where I have it from. I absolutely like the sentiment and the older you grow, the more it gives you a really relaxed feeling ;) I love these papers from 7gypsies and this is my first card where I used it. I hope my sister will like this card...

Frühlingsblüte - Springblossom

Guten Morgen! Ich wünsche Allen ein wunderschönes Osterfest 2010: mit vielen Ostereiern, netten Freunden... und KEINEM Schnee! Gestern kamen hier ein paar Schneeflocken und ich konnte es erst kaum glauben. Gottseidank verschwanden sie aber schnell wieder und wenn ich jetzt aus dem Fenster sehe, sehe ich strahlenden Sonnenschein. Vor einigen Wochen klingelte der Paket-Mensch an unserer Tür... ich wußte gar nicht, was er uns bringen könnte und war umso erstaunter als er mich fragte, ob ich es denn tragen könnte: Es war ein Paket meiner Schwester mit 10 kg (!) Büchern! Das ist für mich so, als würde 3x Weihnachten aufeinander fallen! Als "Gegenleistung" wollte sie von mir einige Karten für ihren "Will-ich-verschicken-Vorrat". Und das hier ist die erste Karte, die ich für sie gemacht habe:

Good Morning! I wish everybody a wonderful Easter Holiday 2010: with loads of easter eggs, kind people... and NO SNOW! Yesterday we had a few snowflakes and I couldn't believe it. I do not want to see a single snowflake before December again! They disapperead, however, very soon... and I`m really glad about that. When I`m looking out of my window now, I just see a bright sunshine! The postman brought me a packet a few weeks ago and I was quite astonished when he asked me if I was able to hold that packet: it was a huge packet by my sister with 10 kg (!) books in it! That`s for me like having 3 times Christmas on the same day! Only thing she wants to have for that: a few cards made by me for her "wanna-send-to-friends-stock". And this is the first card I made for her:

Ich liebe die Lila-grün-orange-Farbkombi! Sie ist so frisch und sticht wirklich ins Auge! Die Idee für die Blüte habe ich irgendwo auf einem Blog entdeckt. Normalerweise schreibe ich mir immer auf, wo ich was finde... leider habe ich das dieses Mal nicht getan oder die Datei ist irgendwie verschwunden. Falls diese Idee also von DIR stammt, schreib mir bitte! Ich möchte auf keinen Fall irgendwelche Credits nicht nennen! Die Bäume habe ich (wie immer...) mit meinen Faber Aquarellstiften coloriert... I love the purple-green-orange-color-combo! It´s sooo fresh and particularly strikes your eye! I saw the idea to make such a blossom on another blog. I usually note down where I saw which idea, but forgot to do that in this case... or the file got lost somehow. So in case this is YOUR idea: write me pls, I do not want to miss publishing any credits! The trees are... like always... coloured with my Faber watercolour-pens. I made waves on my cards quite often: imho they lighten up a card`s LO. Hope you like it! Gabriele

Geburtsanzeige / Birth Announcement

Jaaa, sie ist da! Am 11. Februar um 10:32 Uhr wurde unsere erste Enkeltochter Marlen geboren :) Alle sind wohlauf: das Baby, die Mutter und auch der Vater hat sich zwischenzeitlich wieder erholt. Und wie bereits angekündigt hatte ich die Ehre, die Geburtsanzeigen für die Kleine zu machen. Das ist daraus geworden:

Yeah, she has arrived! Our first grand-daughter Marlen was born on February 11th at 10:32 :) All of them are fine: the baby, the mother and also the father has recovered in the meantime ;) And as I've already written here, I had the honour to make the birth announcement for this sweet little girl. That's the result:

Die Mama konnte sich nicht so recht entscheiden, welches Motiv sie wollte. Und deshalb habe ich 2 Kartenformen gemacht, wie ihr oben sehen könnt: Einmal mit den Schuhen und einmal mit dem Häschen. Die Schuhe habe ich auf Aquarellpapier ausgedruckt und dann mit meinen Aquarellstiften coloriert. Das Häschen war ganz schöne Arbeit: jeder Hase besteht aus 5 Einzelteilen: ich habe die Formen auf Tonkarton übertragen und die Gesichter usw. mit einem schwarzen Stift eingezeichnet. Der Spruch lautet: "Wir freuen uns auf Kinderlachen, Händchen, die viel Unsinn machen, Füßchen, die durchs Haus bald jagen und die vielen, vielen Fragen"

Baby`s mom was not really sure which design to take, so I made 2 forms, as you can see on the fotos above. One form is with the shoes from Hero Arts and the other one has a tiny bunny on it. I printed the shoes onto heavy watercolor paper and colored them with my watercolour pencils from Faber. It was quite a work to make the bunny: I traced the template onto white cardboard (each bunny consists of 5 single pieces) and drew the faces etc with a black marker. The saying is: "We`re looking forward to children laughing, cute small hands kidding around, tiny feet, chasing through the house and all those children's questions" (a very free translation *sigh*, I hope, however, that you understand it...)

Der Innenteil / the inner part

Die zukünftigen Eltern wollten in jedem Fall ein Baby-Foto zusammen mit der Geburtsanzeige verschicken. Ich musste mir also was dafür einfallen lassen. Nach längerem Hin und Her habe ich mich für die folgende Variante entschieden:

Ich habe also eine Tasche aus Transparentpapier gemacht, die oben mit einem Streifen Geschenkpapier abschließt. Die Giraffe ist soooo süß und zeigt die Größe des Babys an; der Elefant... na was? Joa, das Gewicht ;) Ich hoffe, die Karten gefallen euch. Ich war wirklich erleichtert, als ich gehört habe, dass sie bei den Empfängern wirklich gut ankam. Aber was viel wichtiger ist, ist, dass sie den Eltern gefallen! Das war dann eine schöne "Belohnung" für die Arbeit, die ich hatte. (natürlich macht es mir Riesen-Spass, Karten zu machen... es war also gleichzeitig Arbeit und Vergnügen :) ) Ich muss allerdings zugeben, dass rosa für mich die nächste Zeit erst mal ähm.. .out ist ;) Wünsche Euch einen wirklich schönen Sonntag! I made a pocket with vellum, which has a stripe of wrapping paper as a "topping". I love that giraffe so so much... it shows the baby`s size; and the elephant, guess? ... Rrrright: the weight. I hope you like these cards: I was so relieved to hear that all the recipients liked this kind of birth announcement. But most of all: the parents liked it, that was a real gratification for all this worked (I love making cards, of course... so it was work and wellness at the same time!) I have to admit, however, that pink is... kind of "out" at the moment and for the next few weeks ;) I wish everybody a great sunday! Hugs, Gabriele

Happy Birthday Irishteddy!

Wie heißt es doch so schön? Lila - der letzte Versuch. Ich glaube, zur Zeit ist lila ganz schön in und als ich zuerst gelesen habe: "Farbkombi lila grün", dachte ich: nein, das wird nicht dein Ding. Aber nachdem ich die Beispielkarten bei Iris gesehen habe, hab ich mich umentschieden. Hier ist also mein (nein, nicht der letzte) erster Versuch mit Lila... und gleichzeitig meine erste Osterkarte 2010.

The saying is: Purple - the last try. I think, purple is quite in at the moment and when I first read: "Colour combo purple - green", I thought: no, that`s really not yours. But after seeing all the design team`s cards on Iris' blog I decided to give it a try. Here it is (no, not my last...) my first try with purple... and at the same time my first easter card 2010.

Blumen Hintergrund - Window's background

Hier ist noch einmal ein Detail des Blumen-Hintergrundes. Man kann nämlich auf dem Foto schlecht erkennen, wie ich den gemacht habe. Hier bei Mel findet man ein Freebie mit einem Text, auf den ein paar Blüten gedoodelt sind. Diesen Text habe ich mit grünen Pastellkreiden coloriert, Transparentpapier darüber gesetzt und aus einem 2. Ausdruck einige Blüten ausgeschnitten, die ich mit meinen Aquarellstiften lila coloriert habe. In die Mitte habe ich ein wenig Glitzer gesetzt. Vielleicht könnt ihr es auf dem nächsten Bild ein wenig besser sehen.

Here is a detail from the window's background, as you can't see that too well on the card`s foto. Here on Mel`s blog is a freebie with a text and doodle-flowers on it. I coloured this image with green pastels and put it behind a scrap of vellum. I coloured a few blossoms of another print-out in purple, glittered the center a bit and cut them out. You can see that better here on this foto (hopefully).

Was bleibt mir noch zu sagen? Richtig, das Wichtigste: Happy Birthday Irishteddy! Aus diesem Grund habe ich nämlich diese Karte gemacht: Iris feiert ihren ersten Shop-Geburtstag und startet aus diesem Grund einige Challenges in den nächsten Wochen. Alles Liebe, Gabriele

Baby-Enkel / baby grandchild - HeroArts und / and Papertake Weekly

Wie ihr ja wisst, bin ich gerade dabei, ein paar Muster-Karten für die Geburtsanzeigen zu machen. Und ich hatte Euch ja hier auch schon das Digi-Kit von HeroArts gezeigt. Ich stöbere gerade durch meine Lieblings-Blogs und sehe zufällig, dass das Thema bei Papertake Weekly PINK ist, na wenn das kein Zufall ist, denn hier auf meinem Schreibtisch sieht man nix anderes als pink... ich habe zur Zeit ca. 20 pinke Karten hier liegen, von denen ich euch 2 zeigen möchte, die ich mit dem Kit gemacht habe.

As most of you`ll know, I am making some samples for our granddaughter`s birth announcement at the moment. And I've already shown you HeroArt's DigiKit "Special Delivery" here I am surfing through my favourite blogs at the moment and suddenly saw at Papertake Weekly that they are looking for pink cards at the moment... Well, I could show you aprox. 20 of them as this is the colour which dominates my desk atm *gg*

Klapperstorch / Stork
Digi-Stempel/ digistamps: HeroArts "Special Delivery"

Zuerst der Klapperstorch. Als Background für den Tag habe ich einen Spruch genommen: "Kommt irgendwo ein Kind zur Welt, ein Engel sich daneben stellt. Und Tag für Tag und Nacht für Nacht ein Leben lang es nun bewacht" Die Schrift unten "Sina ist da" habe ich übrigens mit einem super Tool erzeugt, das ihr hier finden könnt. Ich habe dem Kind versehentlich die Haare abgeschnitten *gg*, das werde ich noch ändern...

Let`s start with the stork. The background of the tag shows a short poem; I won`t be able to translate it really "poetical", but I`ll try to transfer the sense of it... "Whenever a child enters the world somewhere, an angel will be set at it's side. And will guard it day by day and night by night from now on for the rest of it's life" The wording at the bottom says "Sina is there" and I made it with a great took I found on this website. Errr, by accident I cut the hair off the baby *gg* I`ll change that later on...

Dieses Schnuller-Alpha fand ich ja total süß *gg*. Ich hatte die einzelnen Buchstaben erst als kleine Rechtecke, die ich mit Abstandshaltern auf die Karte geklebt hatte. Aber ich fand dann, dass die Buchstaben ausgeschnitten und auf ein Band gezogen besser aussehen. Bleibt nur zu hoffen, dass die beiden sich nicht "Charlotte-Maximiliane" oder ähnlich aussuchen. Ich denke mit Grausen daran, 30 mal "Charlotte-Maximiliane" Buchstaben-Schnuller auszuschneiden ;) Der Papierstreifen in der Mitte stammt übrigens von einem Geschenkpapier. Ich bin inzwischen immer mal auf der Suche nach schönen Geschenkpapieren, denn ich finde, dass man sie teilweise genauso gut nutzen kann wie Scrapbooking-Papiere. Das war`s für heute... die restlichen Karten werde ich nach dem Wochenende zeigen.

I LOVE this cute pacifier-alpha *gg*. First, I adhered each single letter onto cardstock pieces and made small rectangles from them, which I glued with a few pads onto the card. But then I thought they look much better being cut out and put onto a ribbon. I only hope that our daughter and her husband won't choose a name like "Charlotte-Maximiliane" or something similar *gg*. I cannot imagine what it means to cut out 30 "Charlotte-Maximiliane" pacifier-letters ;) Oh and the paper strip in the middle of the card comes from a wrapping paper. Sometimes those wrapping papers are as beautiful as scrapbooking-papers (in my opinion...) Ok, that`s it for today. Our daughter will choose one of my samples over the weekend, so I can show you the rest on Monday :)

Hero Arts "Special Delivery"

Yeah, ich hab wieder was gewonnen...! Im Dezember konnte man bei Caardvarks je ein Digital Kit von Hero Arts gewinnen. Und... ich war dabei! Weihnachtskarte im Vintage-Look / Christmas-Vintage-Card

Der November ist ja bei uns ein Stress-Monat, weil irgendwie alles, was Beine hat und zu unserem Bekannten-/ Verwandtenkreis gehört, Geburtstag hat... Nun sind fast alle vorbei.... Zeit, schnell mal wieder was zu schreiben, denn ich war ja nicht ganz untätig. Hier ist meine erste Weihnachtskarte: mit einem Minialbum... Rechts ist ein Foto, auf dem man die Vorderseite des Albums ohne Schleife sieht. Weiter unten könnt ihr dann den Inhalt des Albums sehen.

Well, November is a kind of stressfull month for us, as nearly everybody having legs and belonging to our friends / relatives has his birthday... Now, most of these birthdays are over and I have time to write something again, 'cause I was not inactive in the past weeks. Here is my first christmas card for this year: with a mini album on it.... on the right is a foto of the front of this album without the ribbon. If you scroll down a bit you will see the inside of the album.

Es hat lange gedauert, bis ich die Karte fertig hatte... aber das lag allein daran, dass es soooo viel Spass gemacht hat, diese Karte zu machen und die einzelnen Seiten zu gestalten. Wie immer hab ich länger als die anderen gebraucht, mir auszusuchen, was denn auf den Seiten drauf sein soll *gg* Hier also das Innere des Albums, wenn man es auseinander zieht.

It really took it's time to finalize this card... but this was just due to the fact that it was soooo much fun to make this card and to design the single pages. Like always, it took most of the time to chose what to make on these pages *gg* Here is the inside of the album after stretching the front page.

Der Hirsch auf der ersten Seite ist ein Sticker und der Kranz auf der letzten Seite ein Kranz, die ich mit Aquarell-Farben coloriert habe. Ich mag diesen Vintage-Look... Im Großen und Ganzen bin ich richtig stolz auf diese Karte und überlege mir nun, wer sie denn bekommt ;)

The deer on the first page is a sticker and the wreath on the last page a stamp. I coloured both with watercolours. I like this vintage look... And I'm really a bit proud of this card, trying to chose someone who will receive it :) Hope, you like it....

Cardvaarks: Runde Karte / round card - Gate-fold

Ich habe ja nun längere Zeit mit den Challenges ausgesetzt. Aus Zeitgründen... Aber ich habe mir überlegt, jetzt, wo die Weihnachtszeit ansteht und ich eh mehr Karten mache als sonst, werde ich mal ein paar Challenge Blogs ausprobieren. Mal ehrlich: es gibt gute und weniger gute, meint ihr nicht auch? Cardvaarks jedenfalls gehört zu den sehr guten Challenge-Blogs: man lernt eine Menge netter Leute kennen und bekommt viele liebe Kommentare zu seinen "Werken". Bei Cardvaarks habe ich ja auch schon öfter mit gemacht. Dieses Mal war es die Aufgabe, eine runde Karte mit "pizazz" zu erstellen. Ok, ich habe überhaupt keinen Schimmer, was Pizazz sein könnten *gg*, aber egal: wenn die Karten nicht passen, habe ich halt Pech, aber dafür jede Menge Spass beim Basteln. Ich hatte auf Anhieb 2 Ideen dazu. Hier ist meine erste: eine Gate-fold Karte.

Due to a lack of time, I paused participating in challenges for a longer time now. But now, with Christmas and Advent and me making more cards anyway, I want to try out several (for me) new challenge blogs. If we are honest: there are really great ones out there, but also not so good ones, don't you think so? Cardvaarks is, in any case, one of the best challenge blogs: you get to know to loads of kind people and get lots of really nice comments on your "works". And I`ve participated in a few Cardvaarks challenges in the last months. The topic now is to make a round card with pizazz. Well, I have no idea about "pizazz". But ok, if my card does not meet the topic, I'm unlucky, but had lots of fun in making the card. Reading the topic, I immediately had 2 ideas. Here is the first one: a gate-fold card.

Ich mag ja die Kombination Schwarz/ weiß/ türkis oder aqua sehr gerne. Sieht immer gut aus. Man muss halt aufpassen, dass es nicht in Richtung Trauerkarte geht. Aber ich glaube, das ist bei dieser Karte nicht der Fall, oder? Nun muss ich aber mal so langsam auch in Richtung Weihnachtskarten schielen. Ich habe noch nicht eine einzige fertig. Mal sehen, vielleicht schaffe ich es ja auch noch rechtzeitig, meine 2. Idee umzusetzen.

I love the combo black/white/ turquoise or aqua. It always looks great. You have to take care, however, that the card does not look too much like a condolence card. But I think it is not the case here, isn`t it? Now I really have to make a few christmas card. Up to now I made no single one. Maybe I manage to realize my 2nd idea on a round card... let's see.

Passpartout-Karte mit Transparentpapier/ Window-card with vellum

Eigentlich sollte diese Karte ja für einen Wettbewerb auf creadoo sein. Aber dämlich wie ich bin... hab ich nur den halben Text gelesen. Es sollte nicht nur eine Passpartout-Karte gemacht werden... sondern eine HERBSTLICHE Passpartout-Karte... und meine Karte ist... ähm sub-herbstlich ;) Naja, mir gefällt sie allerdings doch ganz gut. Und da im November (jaja, der Karnevals-Februar *pfeif*) fast die ganze Verwandtschaft Geburtstag hat, habe ich auch Verwendung für die Karte. Ich fand die Hintergrundfarbe schwierig. Deshalb hat es mich einige Zeit gekostet, passende Motive zu finden. Nachdem ich mich allerdings für das Transparent-Papier mit Paisley entschieden hatte, ging es ganz schnell... Wenn ihr wissen möchtet, wie ich die Schmetterlinge gemacht habe, scrollt bitte weiter runter...

This card has originally been intended for a cards' contest on creadoo. But being a bit stupid.... I just read half the text. My eyes stumbled upon: "passpartout (window-) card". And oversaw the "autumn" word....and my card is... errr something like sub-autumn-like ;) Well, I somehow like this card. And as nearly all my relatives and a few friends have their birthdays in November (February is carnival-time in Germany, you know ;) ), I`ll have a good use for it. I found it difficult to find something for this colour of the background. Therefore it took me some time to choose an appropriate subject/ motif. But after finding this vellum with paisleys on it, I quickly found the rest... If you want to know how to make these butterflies, pls scroll down a bit.

Das Glanzbild habe ich neulich in einem schnuckeligen kleinen Laden gefunden. Dort gibt es selbstgemachte Marmeladen, Säfte, Bonbons... aber auch viele andere Kleinigkeiten "aus Omas Zeiten". Ich könnte mich stundenlang dort aufhalten. Sobald man im Laden ist, fühlt man sich in eine andere Zeit versetzt. RL-Vintage, sozusagen. Nachdem ich mich nun für das Transparentpapier entschieden hatte, habe ich mir überlegt, die Schmetterlinge ähnlich zu gestalten. Die "Technik" habe ich mir ein wenig vom Pergamano abgeguggt. Natürlich weiß ich, dass man meine Schmetterlinge nicht mit den super tollen Pergamano-Werken vergleichen kann. Aber ich finde sie auf dieser Karte ganz schön. Mir war dann die Karte ein wenig zu nackich... deshalb habe ich unten noch eine Blume mit gesticktem Stängel aufgebracht.

I found this decorative shimmer image with the roses (sorry, I did not found an adequate translation for the German word) recently in a cute little shop. You can find house-made marmelades, juices, sweets there... but also several bits and pieces from grandma's time. I could spend there hours.... As soon as you're in that shop, you feel transfered into another time. Sort of RL-Vintage. After deciding to chose the vellum with the paisley, I wanted to make the butterflies accordingly. I copied the "technique" a bit from Pergamano. I know, of course, that my butterflies cannot be compared with this super great Pergamano-technique, which is much more complicated. But I think they fit to my card here quite well. As the card was a bit too "nudely", I adhered a flower with a stitched stem.

How to: Transparentpapier-Schmetterlinge / Vellum Butterflies

Vielleicht wisst ihr ja auf Anhieb, wie ich die Schmetterlinge gemacht habe... dann bitte nicht weiter lesen :) Aber für all diejenigen, die es nicht wissen, möchte ich diese einfache, aber doch effektvolle Technik kurz beschreiben.

Well, you know perhaps how to make these vellum butterflies... in that case you do not need to read further on... :) But for all those who do not know how to make this simple, yet effective technique, I`d like to explain it.

Stanzer Transparentpapier/ Pergamentpapier Moosgummi-Unterlage Prägestift eventuell weißer Marker

punch vellum pad made from fun-foam stylo white marker, if wanted

Zuerst müsst ihr natürlich die gewünschte Form ausstanzen, oder schneiden, je nach Wunsch-Motiv. Dann legt ihr das Motiv auf die Moosgummi-Vorlage und "zeichnet" mit dem Prägestift auf dem Papier das gewünschte Muster. Jeder Strich, den ihr zeichnet, erscheint als weiße Linie und das Papier bekommt durch den Prägestift natürlich ein wenig mehr Form. Aber bitte vorsichtig zeichnen, denn ansonsten reißt das Papier!

First you have to punch or cut the desired motif, of course. Then put it onto the fun-foam pad and "draw" the pattern you want with the stylo onto the vellum. Each line you draw will appear as a white line and the paper gets a bit more dimension by using the stylo. But please be careful not to press it down too much, as otherwise the paper will tear.

Ihr könnt, wenn ihr möchtet, die Linien noch einmal mit einem weißen Marker nach zeichnen. Dann sind sie ein wenig deutlicher zu erkennen: ich habe hier einmal den Schmetterling ohne (links) und mit (rechts) weißem Marker fotografiert. Ach übrigens: ihr seid schon fertig *gg* Viel Spass beim Nachmachen!

If you want to, you can now draw the lines again using a white marker. The lines will be more visible/ clear by doing this: I made two photos of the butterfly without (left) and with (right) the white marker. Oh, btw: you`re ready! Have fun....
