Das muss ich schnell los werden / Something I just have to say

Da hier zu Hause zur Zeit keiner ist, müsst ihr herhalten... ich will mich nämlich mitteilen! *gg* Diese Woche war bis jetzt ziemlich stressig für mich. Und heute hat sie eine echte Aufwertung erfahren... Erst habe ich heute super schöne Weihnachts-Clear-Stamps ergattert... dann hab ich bereits vor ein paar Tagen schon ein Päckchen für einen Scrapbooking-Austausch erhalten (dazu kann ich momentan noch nicht mehr schreiben, aber Details folgen...) und schließlich hab ich noch erfahren, dass ich ein Blog-Candy gewonnen habe! Und zwar bei Claudi. Juchu, das war mein erstes Blog Candy... und ihr könnt Euch nicht vorstellen, wie sehr ich mich grade freue. Nu hoff ich bloß, dass der Postmann bald 2mal hier klingelt. Das Päckchen, das ich bekommen habe (siehe oben), darf ich nämlich noch nicht auspacken. Ich brauche also dringend Ersatz ;) So, wünsche Euch eine schöne Rest-Woche, liebe Grüße Gabriele

As I am alone here at home at the moment, you have to serve as listeners /readers now; I want to get rid off some info, you know? Up to now, this week has been quite stressful and today it had a kind of upgrading for me *g*. First, I was able to get hold of some christmas clear stamps; a few days ago I received a packet for a scrapbooking-exchange-project I participate in (my first one. I cannot get into detail on this, but will do later on) and finally I read today that I won a blog candy on Claudi's blog! YAY, that was my first blog candy!!! You can not imagine how happy I am! And now I am waiting impatiently until the postman rings twice! The a.m. packet I received has to stay closed for some more weeks, so I urgently need a substitute *gg* Ok, now I wish everybody a great rest of the week! Gabriele

Passpartout-Karte mit Transparentpapier/ Window-card with vellum

Eigentlich sollte diese Karte ja für einen Wettbewerb auf creadoo sein. Aber dämlich wie ich bin... hab ich nur den halben Text gelesen. Es sollte nicht nur eine Passpartout-Karte gemacht werden... sondern eine HERBSTLICHE Passpartout-Karte... und meine Karte ist... ähm sub-herbstlich ;) Naja, mir gefällt sie allerdings doch ganz gut. Und da im November (jaja, der Karnevals-Februar *pfeif*) fast die ganze Verwandtschaft Geburtstag hat, habe ich auch Verwendung für die Karte. Ich fand die Hintergrundfarbe schwierig. Deshalb hat es mich einige Zeit gekostet, passende Motive zu finden. Nachdem ich mich allerdings für das Transparent-Papier mit Paisley entschieden hatte, ging es ganz schnell... Wenn ihr wissen möchtet, wie ich die Schmetterlinge gemacht habe, scrollt bitte weiter runter...

This card has originally been intended for a cards' contest on creadoo. But being a bit stupid.... I just read half the text. My eyes stumbled upon: "passpartout (window-) card". And oversaw the "autumn" word....and my card is... errr something like sub-autumn-like ;) Well, I somehow like this card. And as nearly all my relatives and a few friends have their birthdays in November (February is carnival-time in Germany, you know ;) ), I`ll have a good use for it. I found it difficult to find something for this colour of the background. Therefore it took me some time to choose an appropriate subject/ motif. But after finding this vellum with paisleys on it, I quickly found the rest... If you want to know how to make these butterflies, pls scroll down a bit.

Das Glanzbild habe ich neulich in einem schnuckeligen kleinen Laden gefunden. Dort gibt es selbstgemachte Marmeladen, Säfte, Bonbons... aber auch viele andere Kleinigkeiten "aus Omas Zeiten". Ich könnte mich stundenlang dort aufhalten. Sobald man im Laden ist, fühlt man sich in eine andere Zeit versetzt. RL-Vintage, sozusagen. Nachdem ich mich nun für das Transparentpapier entschieden hatte, habe ich mir überlegt, die Schmetterlinge ähnlich zu gestalten. Die "Technik" habe ich mir ein wenig vom Pergamano abgeguggt. Natürlich weiß ich, dass man meine Schmetterlinge nicht mit den super tollen Pergamano-Werken vergleichen kann. Aber ich finde sie auf dieser Karte ganz schön. Mir war dann die Karte ein wenig zu nackich... deshalb habe ich unten noch eine Blume mit gesticktem Stängel aufgebracht.

I found this decorative shimmer image with the roses (sorry, I did not found an adequate translation for the German word) recently in a cute little shop. You can find house-made marmelades, juices, sweets there... but also several bits and pieces from grandma's time. I could spend there hours.... As soon as you're in that shop, you feel transfered into another time. Sort of RL-Vintage. After deciding to chose the vellum with the paisley, I wanted to make the butterflies accordingly. I copied the "technique" a bit from Pergamano. I know, of course, that my butterflies cannot be compared with this super great Pergamano-technique, which is much more complicated. But I think they fit to my card here quite well. As the card was a bit too "nudely", I adhered a flower with a stitched stem.

How to: Transparentpapier-Schmetterlinge / Vellum Butterflies

Vielleicht wisst ihr ja auf Anhieb, wie ich die Schmetterlinge gemacht habe... dann bitte nicht weiter lesen :) Aber für all diejenigen, die es nicht wissen, möchte ich diese einfache, aber doch effektvolle Technik kurz beschreiben.

Well, you know perhaps how to make these vellum butterflies... in that case you do not need to read further on... :) But for all those who do not know how to make this simple, yet effective technique, I`d like to explain it.

Stanzer Transparentpapier/ Pergamentpapier Moosgummi-Unterlage Prägestift eventuell weißer Marker

Zuerst müsst ihr natürlich die gewünschte Form ausstanzen, oder schneiden, je nach Wunsch-Motiv. Dann legt ihr das Motiv auf die Moosgummi-Vorlage und "zeichnet" mit dem Prägestift auf dem Papier das gewünschte Muster. Jeder Strich, den ihr zeichnet, erscheint als weiße Linie und das Papier bekommt durch den Prägestift natürlich ein wenig mehr Form. Aber bitte vorsichtig zeichnen, denn ansonsten reißt das Papier!

First you have to punch or cut the desired motif, of course. Then put it onto the fun-foam pad and "draw" the pattern you want with the stylo onto the vellum. Each line you draw will appear as a white line and the paper gets a bit more dimension by using the stylo. But please be careful not to press it down too much, as otherwise the paper will tear.

Ihr könnt, wenn ihr möchtet, die Linien noch einmal mit einem weißen Marker nach zeichnen. Dann sind sie ein wenig deutlicher zu erkennen: ich habe hier einmal den Schmetterling ohne (links) und mit (rechts) weißem Marker fotografiert. Ach übrigens: ihr seid schon fertig *gg* Viel Spass beim Nachmachen!

If you want to, you can now draw the lines again using a white marker. The lines will be more visible/ clear by doing this: I made two photos of the butterfly without (left) and with (right) the white marker. Oh, btw: you`re ready! Have fun....

Journal Jar #7: Wie soll es denn heißen? / What`s the baby's name?

Naa, wie soll das Kind denn heißen? Ich kann mich noch sehr gut an die Namens-Auswahl für unseren jüngsten Sohn erinnern. Wir wussten vorher nicht, ob es ein Junge oder Mädchen wird (obwohl mir mein Gefühl gaaaanz deutlich sagte, es würde ein Mädchen). Wisst ihr, was noch eine Schwierigkeit ist, wenn es darum geht, einen Namen für das Kind zu finden? Wenn man bereits Kinder hat. Meine älteren Söhne waren zu der Zeit 12 und 8 Jahre alt und wollten natürlich mitreden. Und das sollten sie ja auch. Wir haben es also so gemacht: Wir haben eine Kladde offen hingelegt und jeder, der einen Einfall hatte, konnte seinen Wunschnamen in dieses Heft eintragen und absolute "No-Go-Namen" durchstreichen. Ooooh ja, das Heft war wirklich gut gefüllt: mit Namen und mit Strichen. Es war echt nicht einfach und wäre unser Sohn ein Mädchen geworden, wäre sie wohl die ersten Tage oder Wochen ohne Namen geblieben... Heute wünsche ich mir manchmal, ich hätte dieses Heft aufbewahrt. Aber zwei Umzüge später ist es leider nicht mehr da. Und deshalb habe ich diese Seite ins Journal für unsere Tochter eingefügt:

Well, what will the baby's name finally be? I remember quite well how we chose the name for our youngest son. We did not know, whether it would be a boy or girl (although my inner feelings told me soooooo clearly, it would be a girl). And you know the next difficulty if you want to find a name for the baby? If you already have children. My elder sons were 12 and 8 yrs at that time and of course they wanted to have a say. And we also wanted them to have their say. So we decided to have a notebook lying on a sideboard. And whenever somebody hat an idea, he could write this name into the book and also scratch absolute no-go-names out. Oooooh, yes, the notebook was filled quite well: with names and scratches... It was not easy indeed and should our son had become a girl, she would have stayed without a name during the first days or weeks... Today I wish I had kept this notebook. But after being moved to another house twice since then we somehow lost it. And therefore I inserted this page into our daughter`s journal:

Journal Jar: Namenswahl / Baby`s name

Ja, ihr denkt wahrscheinlich, dass die Streifen, auf die man die Namen schreiben soll, nicht ausreichen werden. Und ich bin mir relativ sicher, dass dem auch so ist. Aber genau deshalb hab ich mich ja für ein Ringbuch entschieden: unsere Tochter kann so viel oder so wenig wie sie möchte hinzufügen. Unten auf der Seite habe ich einen Teil aus einem Vornamenslexikon eingescannt, verkleinert und ausgedruckt. Dann mit hellblauen/ rosa Pastellkreiden eingefärbt. In den Ecken unten seht ihr einen Stempel (Swirls). Leider ist er mir irgendwie aus dem Bild gehüpft *denk*. Ich habe leider keine Marke der Blumen-Embellishments gefunden... Das Papier für die Herzen ist von Heyda. Die Tags auf den Herzen mit Stempelkissen eingefärbt, mit Feder und Scriptol beschriftet. Bis zum nächsten Mal, Gabriele

Yes, you'll probably think that the paper strips for the names won`t be enough, and you`ll probably be right. But that`s exactly why I decided to take a ring binder: our daughter will be able to add as much as she wants to to the journal. The title says: "The baby will be accompanied by his name every day of his life. It should therefore be well considered. Here is the place for this..." For the paper at the bottom I scanned a page from a dictionary of first names, scaled it down and printed it. Then I coloured it with light-blue/ pink pastell chalks. You can (hopefully) see a rest of a swirls stamp in the two corners at the bottom. Unfortunately they hopped a bit out of my photo... *sigh* I did not find any trade name on the package with the flower embellishments. The paper for the hearts is from Heyda. On the hearts there are tags saying "boy" and "girl". I wrote them with a pen and black ink (scriptol). CU next time here again, Gabriele

Funny Monday: Fisch-Karte / Fish Card

Ha, heute hab ich was für euch, das auch direkt ins Kartenbastel-Thema passt... Als ich so durch die Blogs gehüpft bin auf der Suche nach Ideen für die Fisch-Rezepte-Karte, habe ich unter anderem diese Karte gefunden. OMG, die ist sooooo super! Für die, die kein Englisch können. Der Fisch rechts sagt: "Es hat gar keinen Sinn, einen auf unschuldig zu machen. Ich kann die Blasen sehen, die hinten raus kommen!" Ich habe wirklich lange keine so lustige Karte gesehen! Vielen Dank Michelle für diese Aufmunterung, ich sehe mir die Karte immer wieder gerne an! Ich hoffe, ich konnte Euren Montag ein wenig aufhellen, Viele liebe Grüße, Gabriele

Ha ha, I have something for you today which directly matches into the cardmaking topic... While hopping through the blogs looking for some ideas for my fish-recipe-card I found, among others, this card. OMG; how great is that??? The text reads: "It's no use trying to act innocent. i can see the bubbles coming out of your bottom!" I've not seen such a funny card for a long time! Blog Candy in Claudis Bastelstube

Wenn ich nach neuen Ideen für eine Karte suche, bin ich 700 Stunden mit blog-hopping beschäftigt *gg*. Heute suche ich nach einer Idee für eine Karte, über die ich noch nicht sooo viel sagen kann, aber irgendwie fällt mir nix ein. Und bei der Suche nach Inspiration bin ich grade auf Claudis Bastelstube gestoßen. Claudi hat bald 5.555 Klicks zusammen (vorher gratulieren darf man ja nicht... also kommt das später) und verlost deshalb am 25. Oktober ein Überraschungs-Blog-Candy. Ich habe noch nie an so etwas teilgenommen (deshalb kann es natürlich auch sein, dass ich das ganz falsch mache *denk*)... und man kann sagen: es gibt Leute, die öfter was gewinnen als ich. Ich hab in meinem Leben erst einmal was gewonnen.... aber ich versuche trotzdem mein Glück. Zum Einen, weil 5.555 Klicks erwähnenswert sind. Zum Anderen, weil ich auf Claudis Blog soviele Ideen entdeckt habe. Vielleicht kann ich ja ein wenig dazu beitragen, dass sie bald den 6.666 Klick feiern kann! So... wer Lust hat, schaut mal in Claudis Bastelstube vorbei. Es gibt viele schöne Werke zu bewundern!

Whenever I'm looking for new ideas for a card, I am aprox 700 hrs busy with blog-hopping. *gg* Today I am looking for a special new idea for a card. Cannot write too much about it. But I have absolute no idea what to make... And while looking for some inspiration, I just found Claudis Bastelstube (Blog is written in German). Claudi is about to have 5.555 clicks (as you must not send congratulations in advance, I`ll do that later on) and therefore draws a surprise-blog-candy on October, 25th. I never participated in something like this before (so maybe I am making this in an absolute way...), and you can say: there are people who win more often than I do. In fact, I just won once in my life... but I thought I'll try this one. First, because 5.555 are remarkable! and then, because there are so many ideas on Claudis Blog. Journal Jar #6: Wem sieht das Baby ähnlich? / Does the baby look like Mom or Dad?

Einen wunderschönen Sonntag-Morgen! Heute geht's weiter mit dem Journal Jar. Ich möchte Euch die Einstiegs-Seite zum Journal zeigen. Und das ist diese hier:

Seite für die Fotos der Eltern als Baby / page for parents' baby photos

Auf dieser Seite geht es um die wichtigsten Personen: die zukünftigen Eltern! Deshalb ist der Titel "Der Apfel fällt nicht weit vom Stamm". Hier sollen nämlich Baby-Fotos der Eltern eingeklebt werden. Mit ein wenig oder ein wenig mehr Phantasie kann man später die Baby-Bilder miteinander vergleichen. Wem sieht es denn ähnlicher? Von wem hat das Baby die Nase? <--- sehr wichtig ;-) Ganz links seht ihr ein PP von Mel mit Bäumen, passend zum Apfel-Stamm-Thema. Die Bäume habe ich mit Pastell-Farben coloriert. Bevor ich das Journal Jar gemacht habe, war ein größeres Problem für mich, wie ich zeigen kann, was auf die einzelnen Seiten drauf soll. Das Journal ist ja als Erinnerung gedacht, deshalb wollte ich die einzelnen "Anleitungen" oder Tips nicht offen auf die Seite schreiben. Jeder, der es sich hinterher ansieht, soll ja das fertige Ergebnis sehen. Ich habe mich deshalb dazu entschlossen, in den meisten Fällen entweder ein "Hidden Journalling" oder Tags zu nutzen. So kann unsere Tochter selbst entscheiden, ob sie diese Tags später heraus nehmen möchte, wenn sie die Seiten bearbeitet hat. Hier habe ich den Tag unten links in eine kleine Lasche gesteckt. Auf dem Tag steht: "Fotos von den Eltern als Baby einkleben". Auf die Rückseite können die beiden dann entsprechend ein Foto vom Baby einkleben. So hat man später einen direkten Vergleich. Gefällt es Euch?

This page highlights the two most important people involved: the future parents! Therefore I took the title (see right top of the page): "The apple does not fall far from the tree". This page is to show baby photos from the parents. Having a bit (or a bit more) fantasy you can compare the baby-photos later on: Does the baby look more like the mother or the father? Does it have Mom's or Dad's nose? <---- veeeeery important ;-) On the left you can see a PP from Mel with trees, as I thought that perfectly matches the "apple-tree-topic". I coloured the trees with some pastel chalks. Before I started to make the Journal Jar, one of my biggest problems was, how to show my daughter what to do on the single pages. Finally the journal is meant to be a memory book. Therefore I did not want to write the "instructions" and tipps directly onto the pages. Everybody looking through the journal in future is supposed to see the final result. I therefore decided to use hidden journalling or tags in most of the cases. Thus, our daughter can decide on her own whether to take the tags out later on after having finalized the pages. In this case I put the tag into a small bag on the left side of the page. The text on the tag says: "Glue parents' baby photos here". On the back of the page they can adhere a photo of the baby later on. That gives a good possibility for a direct comparison ;-) Do you like it?

Vintage-Links

Wenn man sich die Scrapbooker und Kartenbastler-Blogs mal so ansieht, dann kann man erkennen, dass Vintage-Motive wirklich beliebt sind. Ich persönlich finde sie auch super. Ich habe in den letzten Tagen einige neue Vintage-Links gefunden. Und da ich euch ja heute meine Fisch-Karte gezeigt habe, dachte ich, ich stell hier mal einige Links vor, die ich wirklich sehr gut finde. Fangen wir an mit The Graphics Fairy. Eine tolle Seite: Man findet wirklich zu jedem Thema etwas. Zusätzlich zu den Bildern kann man auch eine Menge Anleitungen finden. Und es gibt eine Kategorie "Brag Monday". Hier werden jeden Montag Werke von Usern vorgestellt, die irgendetwas mit den Bildern von Graphics Fairy gemacht haben. Wirklich interessant zum Stöbern! Karen (die Graphics Fairy) hat auch noch eine weitere Seite: The Background Fairy. Hier findet man unzählige wirklich super schöne Vorlagen für Hintergrundpapiere, aber speziell für Blog-Designs. Wer sein Blog "pimpen" möchte, kann unter einer Menge an Tipps und Tricks surfen. Mega hilfreich! Die nächste Seite ist ein Blog von Nancy aus den Niederlanden: hier könnt ihr ihn finden. Auch hier wieder super schöne Vintage Bilder. Wenn ihr rechts ein wenig nach unten scrollt, seht ihr auch die Tags, nach denen die Bilder sortiert sind. Und wenn Ihr Inspiration sucht, wie diese Bilder verwendet werden können: die findet ihr hier auf Nancys Blog Weiter gehts... Above the Mark ist ein Stempel-Shop aus den USA. Aber auf der Seite des Shops könnt ihr auch einige wirklich schöne Vintage-Bilder finden. The Vintage Moth ist noch ein Blog mit Vintage-Freebies. Auch hier die Aufteilung in diverse Kategorien. Ich habe gerade gelesen, dass die Blog-Inhaberin dabei ist, eine neue Website zu eröffnen. Es lohnt sich also, regelmäßig nach Updates zu schauen! Nicht nur Bilder, sondern auch entsprechende Anleitungen zu allen möglichen Projekten findet ihr hier. Die Projekte sind nach Kategorien geordnet und wenn man auf ein Projekt klickt, erscheint unten in der Materialliste als erstes ein Link zu den verwendeten Bildern. In diesen pdf-Dokumenten sind dann nicht nur Bilder, sondern teilweise auch Vorlagen zu finden. Und wenn ihr mal eine Woche lang so überhaupt nicht wisst, wo ihr guggen sollt... hier besteht echte "Versack-Gefahr". Unzählige Bilder, nicht nur zu Weihnachten. In den Sidebars links und rechts findet ihr jeweils weiter führende Links. Das waren die Links, die ich am meisten nutze. Es gibt bestimmt noch mehr Seiten: falls Ihr Vorschläge habt, postet sie doch bitte in die Kommentare oder schickt mir eine Mail. Ich werde dann diesen Beitrag gerne ergänzen. Das Wichtigste zum Schluß: die Seiten, die ich genannt habe, sind überwiegend Freebie-Seiten. Bitte beachtet das jeweilige Copyright und hinterlasst doch einen kurzen Kommentar. And as I showed you my Fish-card yesterday, I thought I'd show you some of my favourite links.gezeigt habe, dachte ich, ich stell hier mal einige Links vor, die ich wirklich sehr gut finde. Let's begin with The Graphics Fairy. A wonderful website: You`ll find something related to any topic you can think of. There are additionally lots of instructions/ how-tos. And there is the "Brag Monday". Karen introduces stuff of crafters who used her images. Happy browsing! Karen (the Graphics Fairy) has another website: The Background Fairy. There are wonderful background-papers, but especially blog-designs. So if you are about to "pimp" your blog, you`ll find lots of inspiration, images and also tipps&tricks. Very helpful! The next website I want to show you is the blog from Nancy from the Netherlands: you`ll find ithere. Again great vintage images. If you scroll a bit in the right sidebar, you can see the tags she used for categorizing the images. And if you are looking for inspiration how to use these images: here it is on Nancy's Blog Òk, let's go on... Above the Mark is an US rubber stamps shop. There are, however, also some vintage images there. The Vintage Moth is another vintage-freebie-blog. Again the seperation into several categories. I've just read that the blog owner is working on a new website. So please look for regular updates! Not only images, but also the respective instructions for a variety of projects is here. If you click onto one of the projects, you will find a list of material required. The first link is a pdf with the images used. And... you can also find templates there. And if you have aprox one week time to browse, ... here oh, be careful... you could otherwise spend weeks there... There are uncountable amounts of images, not only referring to Christmas. Further links can be found in the sidebars on the left and right side. These were the links I use most. There are more pages out there in the world wide web, I know: if you have a favourite link, pls post it into the comments here or send me a mail. I will update this article and maybe we can help people with this! The most important point comes here: I mainly posted freebie pages.
